Deadly Women in Local Government Conference 2023
Deadly Women in Local Government Cairns 2023 is an initiative of the Queensland Government and sponsored by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning.
The program delivered a conference for First Nations women in Local Government to help increase their leadership capabilities through a combination of mentoring, coaching, training and support networks. The Deadly Women in Local Government program was aimed at Indigenous females working in Local Government, including Councillors and council employees.
A two-day conference held in Cairns included a range of interactive, learning and development based activities including workshops, keynote speakers, Q&A Panels and mentoring opportunities. Following the conference, participants took part in a 3 month one on one mentoring program facilitated by some of Australia’s top Indigenous Mentors.
Under the theme of ‘Growing Leaders of Tomorrow’, this project helped empower Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island women working in Local Government to develop their leadership skills through a focus on growth, empowerment, connectivity and inspiration.
